The Pinellas Park Public Library is now offering introductory computer training classes. Students will receive hands-on experience using our laptop lab. All classes are free, however, due to the limited number of lab computers, pre-registration is required.December 2008 Schedule

Introduction to Computers: Equipment &
Concepts
This class provides an introduction to the basic parts of a computer
system and
their uses. Topics include areas such as: how to use a mouse, what is
inside a
computer, and some basic computer concepts, such as memory. (This class is
intended for novice computer users.)
Introduction to Microsoft Windows--Part 1
This class is designed to provide an introduction to the Windows operating
system. Topics include areas such as: opening programs, saving files,
and finding files. (This class is intended for novice computer users who
already know how to use a computer mouse.)
Introduction to Microsoft Windows--Part 2
This class is designed to provide a continuing introduction to the Windows
operating system. Topics include areas such as: creating folders, copying &
pasting files, and changing desktop settings. (This class is intended for
novice computer users who already know how to use a computer mouse. Taking
Windows Part 1 is recommended before taking this class.)
Introduction to the Internet
This class offers instruction on how to use some of the basic features of
the Internet.
Topics include areas such as: what is the Internet, how to enter an
Internet address,
and how to search for web sites using a search engine. (This class is
intended for users
familiar with computers and the Windows operating system.)
Introduction to Microsoft Word--Part 1
This class provides instruction on the basic operations of the Word
word
processing program. Topics include areas such as: how to make changes to
text,
how to set tabs and margins, and how to save and retrieve documents.
(This class is intended for users familiar with computers and the Windows
operating
system.)
Introduction to Microsoft Word--Part 2
This class provides a continuing introduction to the basic operations of the
Word word processing program. Topics include areas such as: fixing spelling and
grammar errors, copying & pasting text, and creating bulleted lists. (This
class is inteded for users familiar with computers and the Windows operating
system. Taking Word Part 1 is recommended before taking
this class.)
Introduction to Microsoft Excel
This class will introduce some of the basic functions of the Excel
spreadsheet
program. Topics include areas such as: how to enter data, working with
columns and
rows, and how to enter formulas. (This class is intended for users
experienced with computers and the Windows operating system.)
Introduction to Web-Based E-Mail
This course is intended to provide basic training in the use of electonic
mail. Patrons will be able to sign up for an e-mail account with a free
provider on the Internet. Topics include areas such as: composing an
e-mail message, sending e-mail, creating folders, organizing messages,
and working with attachments. (This class is intended for users familiar
with computers, the Windows operating system, and the Internet.)
